Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2023
On Oct. 21 from 5 to 12pm, the Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften took place in the metropolitan region of Erlangen-Nuremberg-Fuerth. The LMS was also present at this event with two demonstrations. In one of them, the visitors could take place in a “virtual barber shop” where the acoustic illusion of a barber buzzing around the listener’s head was created by means of a loudspeaker-array performing sound rendering. In a second demonstration, it was shown how a camera-array can be used to distinguish plastic objects, which cannot be distinguished by the human eye, by means of multi-spectral analysis. Both demonstrations were well received and attracted many visitors deep into the night.
